Current environmental and quality control monitoring studies of air, water, and soil pollution generate large-scale data tables. Assuming that the measured concentrations and parameters result from a mixture of independent and unknown sources, the use of chemometric mixture analysis techniques, such as multivariate resolution methods, enables the identification and apportionment of pollution sources.
Our research has primarily focused on surface water and air pollution assessment, utilizing data from various monitoring programs and international campaigns, both in our geographical region and in other countries.
These studies provide a comprehensive description of the main contamination sources affecting different environmental compartments (air, water, soil, biota, etc.) across specific geographic areas and timeframes. By analyzing the composition, spatial distribution, and temporal trends of these pollutants, we enhance the understanding of current environmental conditions and assess potential risks over time.
